Adopting a Pet

So you think you are interested in adopting a schnauzer from Almost Home Schnauzer Rescue?  We hope you are, but there are several things we would like you to consider prior to submitting an application.

1. Pets are not toys or assets – they are an extension of your family.  Adopting a schnauzer (or any pet) is a lifelong commitment to their health, happiness and overall well being.

2. Pets are not without cost – beyond the basic costs of food and toys, there is sometimes the need for fencing in addition to routine medical check ups and inoculations that are required for your pets wellness.  Keep in mind that pets adopted through Almost Home Schnauzer Rescue are not free.  The cost of each adoption is dependent on many things including the condition of the pet (or the pet’s mother if a puppy) upon arrival.  If you are looking for a free schnauzer – you are at the wrong site.  Rescues exist to save lives, and this is funded through the generosity of adoptive families being willing to defray the many expenses associated with rescue efforts and fostering.

3. Pets take time to become part of your family – be patient with any animal you adopt.  They have been through a lot, have encountered great changes, and most of all – need your love and compassion.  It takes time to build trust, learn family schedules, and sometimes  – learn potty routines.  Give your family and your pet time to adjust.

Are you still interested in adopting a pet from AHSR?  If so, please fill out an adoption application.  If you have specific questions regarding adoption, you may include those with your application.  Please allow at least 3 business days for your application and inquiry to be processed.

We look forward to learning more about you, and making a schnauzer love connection with you if possible!
